about

On this episode, we deconstruct the new Screeching Weasel song Things Aren't So Bad After All from Baby Fat: Act 1. You'll hear Ben's original bedroom demos, Mike's iPhone recordings and you'll learn how all of this changed the tenor of the lyrics. It's an insider peak from Ben and producer Mike Kennerty (guitarist, All American Rejects) on how songs are written, arranged and recorded.

“I couldn't (have made this album) with people I used to work with. They would have made me feel like a fool and an idiot for trying to do something like this. They would have literally looked at me, in some cases, like I had lost my marbles. I have learned...that when the right people look at you like you're diabolically brilliant and the wrong people look at you like you've lost you're mind...then you really know you are on the right track. Most of what's good about this record is due to other people. To me, it's a miracle that it got done, and that's (credit) to (producer) Mike (Kennerty)."
